Realized we hadn’t introduced you to the pastor here Heredia. This is Esteban and Joy. He is from here in Heredia. His dad is a retired Baptist pastor from San Jose now helping in the church. Joy is from Chili and her parents were missionaries in Mexico. They met in seminary, but did not plan on church planting. Through a series of events, too long to write here, God moved in their hearts and used them to plant a church here in Heredia.
Jonathan and he met in a pastors’ conference and found they had very similar visions for church planting. Working together was put on both hearts, but timing was not right as we had a young church still waiting for a pastor. When the Lord’s timing was right we were able to go and begin getting to know his young church and are now serving along side them. They have been a great blessing to us and we pray our partnership is used to glorify God and grow His church here beyond what we could do on our own.

September was a busy month!!!
Our daughter and her family were able to come visit a couple weeks! We were so thrilled to have the extra time with them while they are home doing training and preparation to return to Spain.
We hosted the monthly Bible study and had a wonderful time of fellowship after.
We all got to celebrate Costa Rica’s Independence Day together with the church!
Our home church, Graceway Baptist Church, was celebrating its 50th anniversary and invited and made it possible for their sent missionaries to be present! We heard history and stories of God’s provision throughout the years.
Sarah’s parents are also home from Portugal so we got to spend time with them.
Our grandson, Grayson, turns one soon so we got to celebrate early with lots family.
Jonathan’s mom has had a rough couple weeks since starting chemo back up and Jonathan was blessed to be able to spend a few days with her.
Of course, we were also blessed by time with Ruthie and Andrew. We can’t get enough time with all our kids. It always ends too soon. Bonus- we got a new family photo!!!
It was a busy month full of blessings and memories!
October starts off with another six week session of church theology classes.
Our hearts are overflowing with thankfulness for God’s blessings and provision!

Our church just held its second VBS. The theme was “The True King”. It was based on the stories of David and lead to Jesus Christ being the true king. This time it was written and developed completely by church members, music and all! So excited to see what God is doing!
We had about 40 kids each day, this is double from last year. We’re shooting for 100 next year!

For a couple weeks in June we got enjoy our kids and our grandson! It was such a blessing to all be together and see Grayson meet more family. We even got to babysit him a few times. He’s such a sweet little guy!
Jonathan also had the privilege to perform the ceremony for his sister’s wedding. They are a great couple. We pray God blesses their new life together.
Thankful for these times God allows with family!
